Frey, Noir Special (72% cacao)

frey_special.gifFrey Special is a fairly moderate dark chocolate with overtones of nuts and an earthy tartness. The taste leaves little to the imagination, with no subtle tones and no development in flavor. Some would describe the taste as bland, but a better description might be un-emotional or un-moving. As with many decent mass production chocolates, Frey Special manages to avoid the undesirable extremes of over sweetness and bitterness. However, the undecorated, rough-cut chocolate blocks of Frey Special are indicative of the chocolates' mediocrity. Frey Special is not a bad chocolate; its just...well... nothing special.
